Team Bromley were the toast of London at annual London Youth Games held at Crystal Palace on weekend of 3/4 July 2010.

More than 30 teams held off the challenge of neighbouring rivals Croydon to pick up the prestigious Jubilee Trophy after amassing a total of 1124 points.

Victories in tennis, athletics and squash at the finals weekend at the National Sports Centre helped tip the balance in Bromley’s favour as they picked up the maximum 50 points in six sports to pip Croydon to the post by six points on home turf.

“I am delighted with the way the whole team has performed over the past 2 months – the teams really have excelled and the credit goes to the Team Managers. We have won this trophy three out of the last four years now and we can’t wait to come back next year and defend it.” said Bromley Borough Team Organiser Louise O’Callaghan.

Bromley proved to be the stars of the show in an action-packed weekend at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre which saw all 33 London boroughs go head-to-head across 17 different sports.

The Bromley squad were following in the footsteps of former London Youth Games attendees Rio Ferdinand, Christine Ohuruogu and Bradley Wiggins by participating at Europe’s largest annual youth sports event.
