LONDON YOUTH GAMES (BALFOUR BEATTY LYG)

The goal of the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games is to work in partnership to inspire all young Londoners to discover and achieve their sporting potential by providing high quality sports events.

To be achieved this through:

  • Creating a growing calendar of sporting competitions catering for all young Londoners
  • Ensuring that these competitions meet the development needs of each sport and all athletes taking part
  • Delivering competitions that lead to a great athlete and volunteer experience
  • Providing an outlet for young Londoners to become and remain involved in all areas of sport; be it playing, coaching, officiating or volunteering
  • Building strong partnerships with the public, private and third sector organisations and remaining at the heart of youth sport in London
  • Promoting the achievements of Games alumni to motivate young people to commit to sport
  • Our target is to grow the number of young people involved in the Games from 28,000 in 2009 to 50,000 in 2012.

Bromley has entered squads in the London Youth Games every year since it's inception at the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977, and as a borough never been out of the top 6 in all that time.
Bromley were LYG winners 2007/08 and 3rd in 2009, losing out by a mere 12 points!
